Hello animators and artists! This is Toon Boom Animation’s April Streaming Calendar, where we highlight our upcoming livestream sessions.

This month we are hosting conversations about education and animation, from applying to animation school, working up to your first portfolio, learning new skills to stay sharp in a studio, all the way to mentoring aspiring artists. Be sure to keep an eye on this page, as there will be an update later this month with a Studio Tour livestream!

And if you happen to be a student, don’t miss out on personal licenses for students for Harmony and Storyboard Pro. Show & Tell Session: Jake Hollander on Yolk Bros

Jake Hollander is a supervising director, episodic director, and all-around animation creator working in LA. His recent screen credits include directing for Krapopolis, Duncanville and HouseBroken, as well as storyboard work on Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. Jake joins us to talk about his personal project, a series of shorts drawn in Storyboard Pro called Yolk Bros.

What can students learn from a degree in animation? This Thursday, Toon Boom Animation is hosting a discussion with program coordinators at two of Canada’s leading animation colleges. Topics cover the various reasons for enrolling in an animation diploma program, how educators react to developments in the animation industry, and production roles that have traditionally been under-explored by animation schools.

Story artist Mike Morris has had a career that’s been… well, storied. Having spent most of his youth in California, it was a quick move for him to Los Angeles. In the City of Angels, he has developed a thriving career and is best known for his work on television series. Special guest Alessandra Sorrentino is an art director, animator and storyboard artist known for her work on Nimona, Wolfwakers, and Ron’s Gone Wrong

Marie-Ève Lacelle is a solutions specialist at Toon Boom Animation who trains artists at major studios around the world. Her CV includes animation on Wakfu, along with multiple production roles on Big Hero 6: The Series and Glitch Techs. In her art streams, Marie-Ève demonstrates tools and workflows in Harmony Premium. In this Art Stream rerun, Marie-Ève and Mookie Tamara discuss prepping a portfolio and preparing the first portfolio for entry-level jobs while Mookie demonstrates a live drawing using Harmony Premium!
