I graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Media Art in 2006. My first job after college was studio manager at independent animation house Blend Films, where I learned the tricky art of balancing both client work and personal projects. A few years later, my twin sister Joy Buran and I started our own animation studio where we’re currently balancing commercial videos, our latest animated short, and a children’s book about the 12 Days of Christmas. I live and work in the Catskill mountains with my husband, our two cats, two dogs, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Jason has worked in entertainment as both a 2D FX and 3D VFX artist for 13 years, animating for the Powerpuff Girls, Arlo on Netflix, and multiple titles for Riot Games - including League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and several R&D projects. While working full time at Riot, Jason created over 60 FX and VFX education videos on his YouTube channel, designed and taught courses for artists internally at Riot, mentored prospective FX artists, facilitated the VFX Bootcamp at GDC, and spoke at conferences to students and pros alike. Jason founded VFX Apprentice, which trains FX artists across the world.

"After graduating in 2012, my partner Iván Carmona and I founded Sunshine Animation in order to be able to keep working on making projects together. Since then, we have focused on making 2D traditional animation trailers and video game cutscenes, and we are very lucky to have an amazing team to helps us. Since we are a small studio of only 8 people, I get to work on multiple stages in each project we make. I would say my main role is that of an art director, but I also work on the storyboards and animatics, even making time for animation and clean up too."
